Strong Competition in Men's Basketball

Spics and Specs and Alpine Hotel Penguins dominated the latest round of the Cooma men’s basketball competition on Tuesday.

Spics and Specs defeated Biga Boys 64 to 42 in a tough but fair match. Game high scorer was Pat Swain with 28 points for Spics and Specs. Best on court for Biga was Tom Stewart who was guarded heavily all night but still managed 15 points. Special mention to Spics n Specs Wall combination with Chris dominating rebounds and Tim showing some nice moves to score at critical times.

There was plenty of outstanding shooting in the other match between Fatz Cutz and Alpine Hotel Penguins with the Penguins winning 74 to 51. Vo Tran and Mareck Strzelecki were standouts for the Alpine Hotel Penguins and seemed to not miss a shot. Best on the court for Alpine Hotel Penguins was Blake Barrett with 26 points and was on fire from the three point range towards the end of the game. Dylan Bodycott also had a top game with a number of rebounds and great baskets from under and around the key for Fatz Cutz.

In the previous round Fatz Cutz came from behind to defeat Biga 42 to 39 with some impressive shooting in the final minutes.

Alpine Hotel defeated Spin n Specs in a hard fought contest.

Next Tuesday will be the last game for 2011 with a short break. The competition will resume on January 10. Players are invited to the Alpine for after game drinks on Tuesday after their respective games.

Cooma Basketball Action Continues

The Cooma Basketball Association mens competition continued last Tuesday. Fatz Catz took on Spics and Specs defeating them by one point. Alpine Hotel played Biga and won 46 to 39.

$1000 for Cooma Basketball

Cor Van Leeuwen from the Cooma Soccer Club and Warren Smith from the Cooma Rugby League Club, with Secretary Manager of the Cooma Ex-Services Club Kade Morrell and Betty Longhurst from the Cooma BAsketball Association and junior basketball players on Wednesday.

MEMBERS of the Cooma Soccer Club and Cooma Rugby League Club have helped raise $1,000 for the Cooma Basketball Association.

Cor Van Leeuwen from the Cooma Soccer Club and Warren Smith from the Cooma Rugby League Club raised the money through the 100 club which is run at the Cooma Ex-Services Club every week.

The pair, along with secretary manager of the Ex-Services Club Kade Morrell presented the Association with a cheque on Wednesday.

Junior basketball players gave them three cheers to thank them for their efforts
